    Considering that it was standing room only for a public hearing on the proposed new regulations for large-acre subdivisions within Crook County, there was a surprising lack of resistance to the overall idea of imposing rules.     A memorial service for Frank Stevens, age 74 of Gillette, Wyoming, was held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the CAM-PLEX Heritage Center Theater with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Francis Eugene Stevens passed away due to natural causes on September 4, 2022, while working on his treasured property in the Black Hills of Wyoming just outside of Hulett.     A federal infrastructure bill has partly plugged the funding gap that the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has been reporting for many years – but the agency is still in a several-hundred million dollar deficit.     The Hulett Volunteer Fire Department held their annual barbecue and fundraiser last Saturday at the fire hall. Despite a busy day due to homecoming, there was a great turnout for the firemen. Residents gathered to enjoy the barbecue and auction while visiting after a busy summer. Terry Goodvin was the auctioneer and auctioned off a variety of donated items.     The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4311 invites all Crook County veterans to bring their kids and their hunting rifles to the Sundance Rod and Gun Club range just off WY 585 at 9 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 1. VFW members will assist in sighting in/zeroing their hunting rifles in preparation for the 2022 deer and elk season.
