    A well-known style of scam in which a person claims to be a member of law enforcement and demands money for an outstanding fine or warrant is reported to have now taken place in Crook County. According to the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, a series of scam calls have been made recently to residents of the county. The call involves a male voice on the phone who claims he is Sheriff Jeff Hodge, badge number 387, and is calling about you having warrants, needing to come in and provide DNA sample or pay fines.     The annual Ride a Horse Feed a Cowboy was held the weekend of August 26 at the Hulett Recreation Grounds. This was the 17th year that Chanda Snook and her crew put on this event to help locals and people in rodeo, who are experiencing traumatic health issues. The money raised will be given to RHFC recipients to help with financial burdens caused by health issues. Born Dolly Ray Dirks to Charles and Gilda Dirks of Alva, Wyoming on December 19, 1940 on the Giachino family ranch, Dolly spent her early childhood on the ranch with her three siblings helping care for cows, pigs, and farm potatoes.
