Wyoming 2024 Girls State delegate, Shannon Gilmartin, Sundance (left) and
Ellie Jay, Hulett, and Shannon Gilmartin, Sundance, have been selected as the 2024 Girls State delegates by the Hulett Roy Montgomery Unit 80 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Janet Cole Lake, Sundance, is the Girls State chair for the local unit.
The Wyoming Girls State program is a week-long session of learning about our government – on the city, county and state levels. It is a practical application of Americanism and good citizenship.
It was developed from the idea that our youth should be offered a better perspective of the practical operation of our government, and that the individual, being an integral part of the government, is ultimately responsible for the character and success of the government.
Willow Lindholm, Sundance, elected as Girls State Governor last year, will also be attending this year's session, which will be held at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, from June 9-15, 2024.
