Learning to swim

Hulett area youth just wrapped up their 2022 summer swimming lessons session. This year, a record number of 42 children participated. For the last 20+ years, the Belle Fourche Rec Center has graciously set aside a two-week session for the Hulett youth every summer. As you can imagine having no swimming pool in Hulett, this opportunity is a huge benefit to our little town and the families that live here. These kids learn to overcome fear of water and will carry the lessons they learn now with them for the rest of their lives.

The Hulett Summer Rec Program ensures that the arrangements are made to get these kids to swimming lessons, that includes, scheduling the lessons, advertising the lessons and lining up transportation/driver.

The kids and parents are especially thankful to all who help make each year a fun and successful event including the Hulett Summer Rec Board, Belle Fourche Rec Center and swim Instructors, Amber Kaplan for driving, Powder River Energy, Deb Bush and Crook County School District #1, Melissa and Teri at Hulett Town Hall, parents who ride the bus and help keep kids organized and those who bought ice cream to celebrate the end of lessons.

If you have children you would like to sign up for swimming lessons or you would like to donate next year, please contact Hulett Town Hall for more information.
