Almost a hundred seventh graders from across the county convened in Sundance last week for a day of learning about civics. Elected officials were on hand to introduce the students to the functions of local government and the impact each office will have on their adult lives. The Hulett music department under the direction of Lila Kennah presented their annual Veterans Day Concert on Nov. 6 at the school. The entire school participated in either band or chorus. An intruder training was held last week at the Hulett School. Students sixth through 12th grades participated in the training let by Ed Robinson from the County Police Department. Crook County School District (CCSD) has updated its policy for evaluating the books that are available in the school libraries. Hulett School Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair on Monday through Thursday next week. Funds raised will help purchase books for children, the media center and classroom libraries. Families, faculty and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers. Crook County School District #1 recently held their Wyoming State-required six hours of training in Sundance. All bus drivers and substitute drivers attended. Trainings this year included Suicide Intervention and Behavior Management, provided by the Campbell County Transportation Department. Crook County first graders from Hulett, Moorcroft and Sundance made their annual trek to Devils Tower National Monument for the 18th annual Wyoming Reads celebration in Crook County. The high school hosted their annual Industrial Arts Show recently. The projects ranged from beginner to advanced. A book related to agriculture is paired with resources to learn about a specific ag topic. The book selected this year, Popcorn Country, tells the story of America's favorite snack and how popcorn is planted, grown, and harvested.
