The Hulett Branch Library sponsored a cemetery walk Aug. 25 at the New Haven Cemetery. Jill Mackey presented the program. She told stories about families who were buried at New Haven. Bush, Hauber, Dunham, Mable Fowler, Mewhirter, Fawcett, Leeson, Seig and Viola Denniston Franklin were some of the families spoken of. The number of registered voters in Crook County took a significant leap upwards this year, according to the official tallies from August’s primary election. Crook County had 4103 registered voters in total at the 2018 primary, a number that grew only modestly to 4143 by the 2020 general election. This year, on the other hand, 4558 people were registered to vote in the county on election day – an increase of 415 people, or 10%. On election day itself, Crook County gained 205 new voters. Kayla Kindsfater, age 71, of Aladdin, Wyoming, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at her home, after several months of respiratory issues. A memorial service was held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Inurnment took place in Alva Cemetery, in Alva, Wyoming. Kayla Rae Bucher was born November 28, 1950 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Merle Dean and Lois (Borchgrevink) Bucher. Almost every district-level seat set to appear on the ballot at the upcoming general election will be contested. This November, voters will be asked to make their choices for the school, medical services, natural resource, museum and senior citizen service districts. All district seats are non-partisan. The Hulett Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual fundraiser on Sat., Sept. 10 at the fire hall. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a barbecue followed by an auction and raffle drawings.
