    The U.S. Forest Service has followed the lead of local counties, cities and state agencies in calling for fire restrictions within the Black Hills National Forest. Black Hills National Forest Supervisor Jeff Tomac has signed a special order BKFfor Stage 1 Fire Restrictions on both the Bearlodge and Hell Canyon Ranger Districts.     Another Hulett rally is in the books and this year really had no surprises. Bikers are coming earlier to beat the crowds so some businesses are reporting they were actually busier on Tuesday instead of the Wednesday, which in the past has been the day to count on for the big numbers. Wet weather and cooler temperatures were followed by triple digits by Wednesday and Thursday. Financially, the town saw way fewer vendors and prices of the sanitation went up due to fuel costs.   • Summer reading comes to an end

    The Hulett Public Library Summer Reading program has come to an end. Kids who participated received rewards and prizes. There were 26 participants this year. First-place reader was Cedar Palm with 6730 minutes. Second was Citabria Wolfskill (3482 minutes) and third was Danylee Schaefer (1770 minutes).     Gillette woman sentenced for her role in 2019 mail thefts GILLETTE (WNE) — A Gillette woman was recently sentenced for her role in a rash of mail thefts in the spring of 2019. At the end of July, Donae Larae Chavez, 40, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl to 28 months in prison for conspiracy to commit bank fraud, followed by five years of supervised release. Chavez also was ordered to pay $9.971.29 in restitution.
